It is harder today for people to get into treatment than it’s ever been, especially for those who do not have the ability to pay.
Action on Addiction was formed in 2007 from the merger of three charities. Clouds, which was established in 1983 and was one of these three charities, is now one of the longest standing and best known addiction treatment centres in the UK. For over 35 years our experts have been providing life-saving treatment to individuals in active addiction, and for every person we help, another five people are also helped indirectly. Over 12,000 people have found the chance of recovery from addiction at Clouds, and today our Care Quality Commission reports are among the best in the country. Independent evaluation of our community recovery service in Essex shows that almost 80% of our clients did not return to any treatment service following completion of our programme. Meanwhile, our Moving Parents and Children Together Programme (M-PACT) focuses on some of the protective factors which are believed to build resilience within families. M-PACT, the subject of a 12 year evaluation report, has been shown to facilitate wide-ranging positive changes for families, even those with multiple, complex and long-standing problems.
Our fundraising efforts are focused on enabling us to sustain and grow the quality and effectiveness of our treatment programmes and increasing our investment in applied research so that we remain at the forefront of new innovations that will shape how people are treated, cared for and supported in the future.
Please help us to save more lives by supporting Action on Addiction today.
The problems associated with addiction are getting worse. Society's capacity to deal with addiction is diminishing. It is increasingly difficult for people to access the treatment they need.
Family members attending M-PACT programmes reported multiple improvements in diverse areas of family functioning.
We treat all forms of addiction including alcohol, drugs (both prescribed and non-prescribed), gambling, sex and love, pornography, and some food related disorders.
