Through programmes such as Addiction Awareness Week, Action on Addiction is working to increase public awareness of addiction and the stigma associated with it. At a time when the problems of addiction are getting worse, society's capacity to deal with them is diminishing. The YouGov poll we commissioned for Addiction Awareness Week showed that well over half the British public know someone who has had an addiction. Sixty nine per cent think that more should be done to support people affected by addiction, and 70% think more should be done to support their families. Against this backdrop, we are collaborating with a range of like-minded individuals and organisations - including polititicans, policy influencers, academics and service providers and people with their own experience of addiction - to develop new ways of engaging with families and children, to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are understood. We are also focused on combining the power of government, philanthropy, social investment, and private capital to invest in solving complex and far-reaching impact of addiction in local communities.
If you would like to be involved in the work we are doing to raise awareness of addiction, eradicate the stigma associated with it, and change the way in which solutions are fashioned, we would love to hear from you.
